Brad E. Davis is the MLA Program Coordinator and the Dan B. Franklin Distinguished Professor for UGA’s College of Environment and Design. He co-authored Plants in Design, along with David Nichols, translating his passion for plants knowledge into a staple reference book for practicing landscape architects in the south. Brad teaches design studios on community master planning and conservation neighborhood design, healing gardens and health design, and courses in plein air drawing and watercolor. In an effort to provide landscape architecture students with hands-on drawing and painting experience, Brad began teaching a field drawing and watercolor class on Jekyll Island in 2011. This year marked his 10 th class in coastal Georgia. Brad also taught a summer course in 2012 as part of the UGA Cortona program, where he and his students painted Tuscan landscapes.
When not teaching, Davis can be found tending his own experimental garden and small farm, spending time with family, or standing at an easel painting the landscape.
Cameron Berglund is a lecturer at UGA’s College of Environment and Design. Throughout his work, his emphasis on empowerment and education has led him through a diverse range of opportunities. His experience as a domestic and international educator range from professional creative and design workshops, to curriculum design and instruction in Uganda, and the creation and facilitation of Graduate and Undergraduate design classes at the University of Georgia. Throughout these experiences, Cameron’s passion for design and artistic expression and strong skillset enables students to engage their enthusiasm and grow their knowledge.
During the academic year, Cameron leads AthSketch, a group of urban sketchers that meets weekly to explore areas on and around campus. Through AthSketch, Cameron helps students foster and enjoy the process of sketching on location. Cameron is not only an educator, but a designer, an illustrator, and artist.
